The that same the year that Gold Band Records was a small independent record label. Even though she was still studying, she already established herself within the local arena. Her goal was to to play on a bigger size. After graduating high school in 1964, she moved straight to Nashville. Dumb Blonde was her first record to chart for the first time on Monument Records. Porter Wagoner began looking for new female vocalists for his syndicated television program at around the exact time. Parton joined Grand Ole Opry 1969 after signing in 1969 with RCA Records. Then, in 1974, she left The Wagoner's Show due to the popularity of her own songs such as Joshua Coats of Many Colors or Jolene was outstripping their joint releases. Parton composed I Will Always love You in honor of Wagoner following their split. The song reached the top of the charts at. The first time it made it to the top spot was in 1974.
