Lee Roy Selmon blends the merits of football scholarship in his home with volunteering in the community. In the first place Selmon was born by Lucious and Jessie Selmon on a farm near Eufala within Oklahoma as the eldest of their nine children. In football, he was alongside three brothers in Oklahoma. Three of them were All-Americans. The year 1973 was the first time Lee Roy and Lucious Jr. Dewey were the first-teamers for the entire year. Lee Roy received the Outland and Lombardi Awards for being the best lineman of the United States. For the three seasons that Roy played as a player, Oklahoma won two National Championships. Third scholarship he was named an National Football Foundation Scholar-Athlete in 1975. Selmon received a degree in Education. Lee Roy dedicated ten volunteer hours per week during college. Then he settled in Tampa after graduation, and was a member of the Buccaneers for nine seasons and was three-times all-pro. His business career began. He was hired in 1988 as an Account Representative for Tampa's First Florida Bank. He was also involved with these organisations: Special Olympics Easter Seals Baptist Church Ronald McDonald House United Negro College Fund South Florida Institute Black Life Hall of Fame Bowl Committee. There's no surprise that The Junior Chamber of Commerce designated Lee Roy as among the 10 most notable young people in America. Lee Roy stood 6-2 in size and weighed in at 256 pounds when he was a student athlete. He was captain of the team in 1975. In 1993, he was named as associate director at the University of South Florida. The College Football Hall of Fame named his as a member in the year the year 1988. GTE Academic All-America Hall of Fame, in 1994. Pro Football Hall of Fame in 1995. In 1989 the Oklahoma City Chapter National Football Foundation awarded their Distinguished American Award, to Mr. Lucious Selmon and his wife.
